Having learned a cool way to make a paper "canvas" by fusing paper and wooden panel together with gloss gel, I've created an Instructable where you can learn how to make one as well! I was given instruction in this by Houston artist Heather Gordy, who makes work on paper with markers after fusing the paper to small wooden panels in various shapes.
I needed to make a large (48x60) panel from scratch first, which I did by making a frame as if I were going to stretch canvas, but then applied a thin oak panel instead with wood glue.

I've got the finished panel below, with my grid penciled out ready to begin my next drawing. All I need are some crepe myrtle petals for still life... if only they would BLOOM again! This is going to be even larger than my recent Feathers piece, and I figure it will be done in June sometime.
